End the Illusions: Only Force Can Stop Putler Now
Trump says Putler has gone “crazy.” We say he’s always been evil—and must be crushed, not coddled.
Russian activity and aggression are growing. In recent days, we wrote about how the Russians intensified hybrid operations at sea and in the airspace of the Baltic, especially the Gulf of Finland. While we were writing that, one of the most aggressive campaigns of air raids, bombings, and drone attacks on Ukraine in recent months was underway. And indeed, at the very moment when the sides exchanged prisoners, Putler's terrorists were mercilessly attacking Ukrainian cities, towns, and villages. This is clear from the list of targeted sites—these attacks had no strictly military objective—unless Russian targeting and intelligence are so bad, which also cannot be ruled out. In our opinion, however, the goal was something else: to spread terror. That’s why in our previous post we described these bombings as terrorist attacks. It must be understood that in successive waves of attacks, Russia broke records in the amount of ordnance used—on the 25th alone they used nearly 300 drones, and during the night of the 26th, over 350, plus a significant number of cruise missiles. One could assume that such effort will soon deplete their ammunition supplies—something that would be much easier if they were facing real, harsh, and inescapable sanctions. Meanwhile, from NATO Secretary General we hear laments that Russia is producing more ammunition than Europe. Mr. Rutte, you were Prime Minister of the Netherlands for a very long time—this is your fault. Whining about Russian superiority must start being treated as a form of betrayal—politicians, especially the NATO Secretary, should keep their mouths shut and get to work. We've been hearing about the lack of ammunition for two years—when will something be done beyond declarations and EU resolutions? It’s also difficult to understand President Trump and his diplomatic efforts. How many times can one be surprised by bad faith? How many times can one believe that Putler wants a diplomatic end to the war he himself started? Mr. President, nothing has changed with Putler—he’s always been this way, he hasn’t gone crazy, he’s simply evil. We hope that President Trump will finally understand that he is being used by Putler. The only good news today is that Germany has finally lifted its restrictions on the weapons it sent to Ukraine. This means that none of Ukraine’s Western partners who have delivered long-range weapons—France, the UK, Germany, and the U.S.—are holding her hand anymore.
